Cut the cost of care homes and stop the repossession of the personal belongings.

What the petition asks

My great auntie has been in hospital since 27th December with a broken hip and was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. We have since been notified that she will need care. The prices of care homes and some equate to over £1000 a week which is taken from the elderly persons savings.
Once an elderly persons hard earned savings have run out, the council revert to the belongings of that said person including their home. I am of the understanding that people who rely on the council for money or do not have savings are funded by the council for their care. Why should the government/ council have the right to take peoples hard earned money and property to fund care whilst others do not have to pay a penny.
