What the petition asks
In the 50s & 60s the UK invited immigrants from the Commonwealth to help rebuild the UK. Their children are now in their elder years, having worked in the UK, paid taxes and thought they were British. Now the Home Office says they have no residency rights, withdrawing benefits & healthcare.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We're not sure whether you'd like British citizenship to be given automatically to a certain group of people, or whether you'd like immigration rules to be changed so that they qualify for citizenship.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
