Raise the minimum wage for workers under 18 years old.

Closed 52 signatures

What the petition asks

The minimum wage for all will rise in April of 2018, but that of under 18s by a lesser amount. Young people between the ages of 16 and 18 may sustain themselves for a variety of reasons, and it is limiting, unnecessary and frankly insulting to be legally paid almost half the wage of our colleagues.
The gov website on the National Minimum Wage states that 'Typical hourly earnings for 16-17 year olds were £5.15 in 2014 and £6.53 for 18-20 year olds (both excluding apprentices). This compares to £11.74 for workers aged 21 and over.'
