What the petition asks
Tool theft is on the increase and has widespread and serious broad reaching consequences for victims and their dependents. Current legislation and policing is in effective and the consequences result in loss of income and loss of jobs for those who often can least afford it.
Social media is currently full of reports of theft from vehicles and business premises where the police are unable or unwilling to pursue the offenders.
These thefts result in serious financial difficulties for trades and businesses which often result in lost earnings and even job losses and closure of the business. Many businesses are at breaking point and potentially will start taking the law into their own hands which is entirely unacceptable but Increasingly likely.
