New law on the ratio of qualified staff/carers to patients in nursing homes

What the petition asks
My father was neglected in a care home. There is no minimum legal ratio or a requirement on public or private care facilities to employ a minimum number of staff. I have spent 5 years speaking, researching and gleaning information on this matter.
I had to employ the services of my local MP who contacted The Care Quality Commission on my behalf. I should have been listened to immediately and my concerns taken seriously without having to involve my MP. I have spoken with many carers/qualified nursing staff in nursing homes and in the community, and they believe, that there is neglect is because there is no legal ratio requirement.
