What the petition asks
A large percentage of accidents and emergencies occur in a household. The vast majority of these incidents that occur have a child present on scene. Many of these children present have no understanding and practical knowledge of basic first aid which could be pivotal in saving a life or limb.
The aim of this scheme is to introduce and educate children in junior year groups 5 and 6 how to manage minor injuries such as burns and lacerations. Also covered within these workshops, children will learn how to recognise when someone is in cardiac arrest and how to perform BASIC life support until suitable help arrives.
