Establish an independent inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Telford

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

This petition was previously created in May 2017 but subsequently closed due to the general election.

An independent inquiry would establish (as it did in Rotherham) the facts behind this disturbing statistic.
Telford has been described as the "child sex capital of Britain". There could be as many as 2,300 victims in Telford & Wrekin - 40% more than Rotherham's 1,400 - based on being 2 and a half times more likely to be a victim in Telford & Wrekin which has 60% of the population of Rotherham.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There is already an Independent Inquiry on Child Sexual Abuse.

The Inquiry has announced that it is considering information from Telford and Wrekin Council as part of its investigation.
