What the petition asks
Currently UK law calls for all fresh frozen meats & poultry to display country of rearing, slaughter, cutting and in some cases if the animal was under 6months old, but not the method of slaughter - 'stunned' or 'unstunned'.
As consumers we should have the right to make a conscientious choice.
As consumers we should have the right to make a conscientious choice.
The law states all animals should be stunned with the exception of religious slaughter; Halal and Kosher.
RSPCA's evidence clearly indicates that slaughter without pre-stunning can cause unnecessary suffering.
As consumers we should be able to make a conscientious choice whether to support unstunned slaughter or not, which is not possible without clear package labelling showing 'Method of slaughter'
