Prevent Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council from removing memorials from graves

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

This petition is in memory of my Nan, who sadly passed away on 24th May 2017. She is buried at the Hatfield Lawn Cemetery. We were notified by letter - that we had to remove all flowers and ornaments from the grave itself. We were also told that if we did not remove them - the council would.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We appreciate that this is a difficult issue for you, but we can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the management of cemeteries. This is the responsibility of your local council.

You could raise your issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them:

If you have made a complaint to the council, and you are not happy with the way it has been handled, you may be able to complain to the Local Government Ombudsman:
