What the petition asks
There is a need for reduced car pollution in the UK This could be helped by the implementation of free public transport passes to all who are 60 years and over. Having free public transport for this group would dramatically reduce car use and therefore reduce pollution and traffic congestion.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Public transport in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is devolved. That means that the UK Government and Parliament can't look into it.
You could start a new petition about something the UK Government are responsible for. For example, you could start a new petition asking the UK Government to work with the devolved assemblies and Governments to create UK-wide free or subsidised travel for over-60s.
