Allow police to confiscate mobile phones when drivers are caught using them.

What the petition asks
Fining drivers for mobile phone use appears to be of little deterrent on its own. A fine along with points on the license and immediate confiscation could possibly have more impact. The inconvenience and cost of losing all personal contacts and data would, for some people, be immeasurable.
Lincolnshire recently had a blitz on catching drivers using mobile phones, as far as I can see that made absolutely no difference. I see the same people day in day out driving while using hand held mobile phones, that includes tractor drivers.
