What the petition asks
The people who have been threatened with deportation, who have lost wages and jobs and the stress of having to apply for citizenship in a country (GB) where they understood they had a right to stay. The Government has not kept the records pre-1973. That is a failure on the Government's part .
I have lived here for 61 years, worked, paid tax, married, passed my driving test etc. I was never questioned re my Canadian birth cert, I arrived here on my mother's Passport as she returned to England after my Fathers death in Canada 1956. My father fought in the last world war as a volunteer. I have always known I had an independent right to stay. I have now had to apply for citizenship, been stopped from working for 15 months. Loss of earnings is debilitating. I am stressed out and angry.
