Update the current legislation: "The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989"

Closed 83 signatures

What the petition asks

There exists ambiguity within the electrical industry, specifically with regard to electrical installation of equipment, with what can be considered acceptable with regard to meeting the requirements of regulations, due to the outdated and generic criteria which is open to interpretation.
The EaWR 1989 would benefit from an update to specifically clarify and reference the associated standards and regulations detailed below:

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016

BS 7671

BS 6423

This would ensure that persons on whom duties are imposed (e.g. duty holders) have a clear and defined defence against any alleged breaches.
