Fund Universities to explore new routes into Learning Disability Nursing

What the petition asks
In order to ensure those with Learning Disabilities receive the best evidence-based care it is vital money is invested into developing new, affordable routes into nurse education to meet the needs of the Learning Disability Student demographic.
Since the loss of student nursing bursaries in England, there has been a marked decline in the number of applicants to pre-registration Learning Disability Nursing courses. Applications from mature students, who have traditionally made up a large percentage of Learning Disability Nursing intakes, have fallen most drastically. This fall in applications is resulting in university courses across the country closing, threatening the future of the Learning Disability Nursing workforce.
