A fixed student ticket price for trains
Rejected
11 signatures
What the petition asks
Many students cannot afford to get to college/sixth form/university, as the ticket prices are expensive. A student railcard is available, however it can only be used on off-peak times, which defeats the purpose of having a railcard.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The price of train tickets is the responsibility of train operating companies.
You could ask the Government to provide a subsidy for student rail fares, or you could ask the Government to require train companies to give student discounts.
