Provide bereavement benefits for unmarried partners of 10 years or more.

What the petition asks
Shawn and I were together for 26 years. He died on 31st March. It is unfair that bereavement allowances and payments are only for married couples and civil partners.
People who are in a relationship for many years share the same costs and have the same financial responsibilities as married or civilly partnered people. They may have joint bank accounts and mortgages. They need the same rights to assistance when they lose their life partner.
