What the petition asks
We want to see revisions to Section 1 firearms certificates so that law abiding, mentally healthy citizens have the privilege and freedom to own a wider range of weaponry for the purposes of sports and protection of private property.
The revisions I am proposing are:
Allow for the sale of semi-automatic, centre-fire rifles to citizens with a section 1 firearms certificate
Allow for the sale of pistols to citizens with a section 1 firearms certificate
Allow for the protection of private property to be a reason for owning a firearm
Reduce the length of firearm certificate to be reduce from 5 to 1 year so mental health and criminal checks happen more often
Change the price of a certificate to make renewal easy but entry hard
