Petition · past parliament

Start an enquiry into the arrest and imprisonment of Tommy Robinson.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The recent imprisonment of defenders of free speech on spurious or non-existent grounds is causing grave concern amongst law abiding citizens of the UK.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about arrests and sentencing in individual cases are the responsibility of the police and the courts, not the UK Government or Parliament.

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for deciding whether someone has been wrongfully arrested. That would be a decision for a court to make. The courts are independent of the UK Government and Parliament.

You could start a new petition asking for a specific change in the contempt of court laws, if that's what you'd like to happen.
