A debate into the arrest of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (Tommy Robinson)

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Arrested whilst live streaming, for disturbing the peace. I personally could not see a crime being committed. In my opinion West Yorkshire Police had no grounds to arrest.
I found the heavy handedness of West Yorkshire Police disturbing, especially as no other News Outlet was reporting on a case in the Public's Interest. I strongly feel, as a British Citizen, that this is an assault on Freedom of Speech and a slap in the face to the Magna Carta.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about arrests and sentences in individual cases are the responsibility of the police and the courts, not the Government and Parliament.

You could start a new petition asking for a specific change in the contempt of court laws, if that’s what you’d like to happen.
