What the petition asks
Following years of poor services across the Southern Railway, Thameslink, Gatwick Express & Gt. Northern rail network we call upon Parliament & DfT to consider the return of these services to public sector operation as done with the East Coast Line which has proven financial record in public hands
The reliability of the service provided by Govia has been steadily deteriorating for years & now with the latest timetable shake up has seen journey times extended, more connections, mass train delays & cancellations. When the ECL was last in public ownership it generated money (£1b) for reinvestment services something that could help Govia passengers get the service they deserve. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/nov/27/privatising-east-coast-rail-rip-off?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
