Reconsider Anjem Choudarys early release from prison

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Anjem Choudary is a hate preacher and speaker .... Discuss why he cannot serve full term sentence

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

This isn't something that the UK Government and Parliament can do.

Decisions about releasing prisoners into the community are taken by the Parole Board, which is independent of Parliament and Government. You can find out more about the Parole Board here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/parole-board/about

In January 2018, the Secretary of State for Justice announced a review into the law, policy and procedure relating to Parole Board decisions. You can find out more here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/review-of-the-law-policy-and-procedure-relating-to-parole-board-decisions

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to make a specific change to how the Parole Board makes decisions, if that's what you'd like to happen.
