What the petition asks
The UK regulations are amongst the weakest in Europe relying on self-regulation and reporting. Road safety should start with good vision and current procedures lack any medical rigour to substantiate visual fitness to drive increasing the potential for injury or death due to accidents.
WHO declared poor vision is one of the main risk factors for crashes.
A 2014 Brake study showed 1.5 million UK drivers have never had an eye test.
