People who carry bladed articles in a public place can not claim self defence.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

People carrying knives claim they do so for protection. No one who takes a knife out in a public place should be aloud to claim they acted in self defence and reasonable force laws should be void at a trial. If you go out with a bladed article or fire arms you do so with the intention to use it.
People caught with knives are getting cautions. People that use the knives ( actually stabbing some one) are receiving suspended sentences.
Hundreds of families are being let down by British justice. We need to toughen the law on knife crime. We need to show zero tolerance so young ones know , if they go out armed with either bladed articles or fire arms they will go to prison for a very long time . At present there is no deterrant and young ones know they will receive nothing when there caught

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. If you want the sentence for carrying a knife to be increased, you may wish to sign this petition instead: anybody caught carrying a knife/gun serve a mandatory life with 10 year minimum
