What the petition asks

Currently the countries sewers are not being inspected for 40 plus years leading to fat bergs blockages and restricted flows. Reactive cleaning after blockages is detrimental to our infrastructures ability to cope with additional housing

Ofwat have stated it is acceptable for manholes not to be lifted for 40 plus years meaning no maintenance cleansing or attempt to keep flowing of our sewers. This leads to serious blockages and fat bergs - syphons need inspecting every two years pipework cleaning ever 8 to 10 years - this policy is detrimental to public health and is fundamentally irrational interpretation of the law, simple because no time limit to cleaning is present within the state this does not mean it removes common sense.
