What the petition asks
Dementia is NOT currently classified as an illness requiring continuing health care, yet the end result is death by slow torture. Sufferers slowly deteriorate before your eyes, no longer eating or drinking and needing expensive nursing care yet they don't qualify for any help from the NHS.
Dementia care should be treat equally as a Primary Health Care need, as with other health care. Vascular dementia is a physical illness where the brain shrinks due to the lack of oxygen. This Government doesn't see that as an illness requiring continuing health care, yet the end result is death by slow torture. Sufferers slowly deteriorate before your eyes. Dementia is a mental and physical illness and should be funded equally as a Primary Health Care need. Sufferers deserve the care they need.
