What the petition asks
So many people are ending their lives because they can’t cope with their mental health. It’s untold, kept quiet and no one likes to speak about it because we don’t get the support or the help that we should. Mental health is so broad it’s not recognised enough.
Mental health can vary from anxiety to split personality disorder, bipolar, depression and much more. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that between 35% and 50% of people with severe mental health problems in developed countries, and 76 – 85% in developing countries, receive no treatment. A 2014 UK survey found that one in six people tried to take their own life while on a waiting list for psychological therapy.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
