What the petition asks
Proportional representation means that vote share in the population matches the amount of seats each party gets in an election. First past the post creates a huge disparity between vote share and seats in the House of Commons, with parties receiving millions of votes and just one seat. Details below

•Conservatives - 331 seats, 11,334,226 votes (36.9%)
•Labour - 232 seats, 9,347,273 votes (30.4%)
•UKIP - 1 seat, 3,881,099votes (12.6%)
•Liberal Democrats - 8 seats, 2,415,916 votes (7.9%)
•Green Party - 1 seat, 1,57,630 votes (3.8%)
2017 Election:
•Conservatives - 318 seats, 13,636,684 votes (42.4%)
•Labour - 262 seats, 12,877,918 votes (40.0%)
•Lib Dems - 12 seats, 2,371,861 votes (7.4%)
