What the petition asks
So, I drive a Class 1 vehicle and see too many times cyclists going through red lights, not wearing safety gear. I hear too many tiles of cyclists being killed as a result of wagons, it’s time but to the onus on them and penalise them for bad riding or riding without due care.
I would like to see cyclists have a mandatory insurance, bike MOT, tax levy, mandatory safety gear and registration plates
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking for cyclists and bicycles used on the road to be tested, taxed, insured and registered.
If you want the Government and Parliament to introduce a licencing system for cyclists and tighten up cycle law, you may wish to sign this petition instead: Introduce a Licencing system for cyclists and tighten up cycle law.
