What the petition asks
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition which can not be prevented and currently can not be cured. It is an unrelenting condition that affects every aspect of life both physically & mentally.
Awareness of the symptoms is low and children are dying due to late / missed diagnosis.

In the uk there are approximately 400,000 people living with type 1 diabetes with 29,000 of them being children. This number is increasing by 4% each year. Over the last 20 years there has been a 5% increase each year in the under 5s age group!! (stats from JDRF website)
I have four children, two of which have Type 1 diabetes. We were lucky we knew the signs, others are not so lucky.
We have had a national awareness campaign for meningitis & sepsis, we need one for Type 1 diabetes.
