Bring Cllr David Owens to account for his abstention regarding Princes Parade

On 16/08/18 Cllr David Owens, who represents Hythe, and indeed Seabrook, decided to abstain from a crucial vote which would have a significant impact. Not only to local residents, but for our wildlife and indeed our quality of life. The motion was passed 5-4 with the local Councillor abstaining

We can't accept this petition as it's about something the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for. How local councillors vote is their own responsibility and they are accountable to their local electorates. It would be for the local authority to decide whether to hold any further votes on this issue.

Once an application is made for the development to take place, all local residents have the right to request that a planning application be ‘called in’ by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. This means that it will assess the planning application against certain criteria and decide if a full inquiry is needed.
