Provide mandatory education on consent in all primary and secondary schools

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

With the implementation of compulsory sex education in all UK primary and secondary schools in 2020 we are calling on the government to include consent education as part of the national curriculum for children in all primary and secondary schools in order to reduce sexual assault and harassment.
500,000 people are sexually assaulted each year In England and Wales with approx. 85,000 women and 12,000 men being raped.1 in 5 women aged 16 - 59 has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16 with 31% aged 18-24 reporting experiencing harassment or assault in childhood. We believe that by providing mandatory education on consent and having knowledge and understanding of consent these numbers could be dramatically reduced.
