Stricter controls over the way shops display & advertise alcoholic beverages.

What the petition asks
The Tesco 'Drinks Festival' promotion. An aisle at the front of the store displaying alcoholic beverages with many large signs. This encourages people to consume more alcohol. It targets vulnerable & disadvantaged people in society because it's cheap. People are forced to see it doing their shop.
There should be stricter rules in place for the marketing of alcohol in shops. Thousands die from alcohol-related diseases every year. The cost and burden it places on the NHS is huge. It is the second biggest preventable killer behind smoking. The negative impact of alcohol is worse than smoking because it takes away a persons dignity, self esteem and ruins the lives of family and loved ones. Banning advertising of cigarettes has reduced smoking-related illness. Alcohol should be no different.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
We understand that you're concerned about the advertising and display of alcohol, but we're not exactly sure exactly what kind of controls you want the Government or Parliament to introduce. In particular, we're not sure if you want advertising of alcohol to be banned in the same way as cigarettes, or what kind of controls over the way shops display alcohol you'd like to see.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
