English law to reflect what is already in place when buying a house in Scotland

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

Being able to pull out of buying a house months into making an offer but before exchange slows down the process of buying a house and can break down the whole chain. This has happened to me twice this year. If law here reflected Scotland I would have sold my house and successfully moved in April.
This has happened to me personally and I don’t know many people who haven’t experienced a break down in buying a property due to the lack of legal recourse if a buyer pulls out last minute before exchange.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. There are several differences between Scottish and English Laws relating to house purchases, we're therefore not sure what changes you want to see.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
