Diverticular disease is a disability

Many of us on a Facebook page have formed a group to help each other with this disease. Many of us suffer pain on a daily basis, have frequent hospital admissions and find it very difficult to hold down a job due to this, most resulting in disciplinary meetings, warnings and the sack.

We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing, but unfortunately we're not able to accept your petition, as petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Laws and policies, including the Equality Act, don't list specific conditions and define them as disabilities. In most cases, it’s the impact that a health condition has on the person’s life that qualifies them for support or protection under the law.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do to support people who are suffering from diverticular disease.
