Petition · past parliament

Hold those of public influence accountable for hate speech.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

When someone of public influence, such as a TV Presenter, politician, councillor, news editor, etc. spreads hate speech, it legitimizes that hate speech, especially when they are not held to account. This puts people at risk of abuse. Something needs to be done about this.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Speech that incites hatred is already a crime. We're therefore not sure what further action you want the UK Government or Parliament to take. If you believe a crime has been committed you should report it to the police. You can find out more here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
