What the petition asks

Farmed animals can be kept in near darkness with no access to fresh air or natural light spending their whole lives in sheds that are little more than dungeons. The denial of natural light and fresh intensifies great suffering to intelligent and sentient life forms.

The evidence of such practices and concomitant suffering is plentiful. I use these examples but there are many. This YouTube film is about the abuses of factory farmed animals but the birds and pigs can clearly be seen to have little or no access to daylight or fresh air - increasing the risks to animal and human health.
