Create an NHS service equipped to help people with autism & mental health issues

Closed 64 signatures

What the petition asks

Many people with Autism struggle to get mental health support despite being 80% more likely to suffer from it!
66% of newly diagnosed individuals have contemplated suicide... this is a ridiculous statistic.
Change needs to happen!!
I lost my best friend to suicide back in 2015, he had autism and suffered from depression and was on a waiting list for mental health services, however a lot of these services are unequipped and shy away from supporting individuals with autism, because of our communication difficulties. We are often labelled as not engaging due to not being able to verbalise what’s happening as easy as other service users and often get discharged or misunderstood, there needs to be a service that helps us!
