Petition · past parliament

Remove ‘Halal! is it me you’re looking for?’ adverts by Muzmatch dating agency.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

‘Halal’ is synonymous with religious slaughter of animals - an unacceptable practice for many people of other or no religions in the UK. It is therefore highly offensive for this word to be used in a light-hearted advertising campaign. The religious slaughter of sentient beings is not a joke.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because it is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament to make decisions about whether adverts are offensive.

This is the responsibility of the Advertising Standards Authority.
