Make Norfolk a Royal County
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
The county of Norfolk has a strong association with the Royal Family, hosting the Royal Norfolk Show with frequent royal visitors.
Her Majesty resides at Sandringham annually for Christmas and the New Year Period. As well as the Royal Residence of Sandringham, the future King William and his family also have a Norfolk home. His mother Princess Diana was raised at Park House on the Sandringham estate, the Queens father King George sadly passed way at Sandiringham House. There are numerous other connections of the Country of Norfolk with the British Royal family and believe this should elevate Norfolk to a Royal County
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We cannot accept petitions about matters which are not the responsibility of Government or Parliament.
The title ‘Royal’ is a privilege granted by the Queen. This action could not, therefore, be taken directly by the Government or Parliament.
You could start a petition calling on the Government to recommend to Her Majesty that she grant the title "Royal" to the county of Norfolk.
