What the petition asks
1 in 5 children in the UK have witnessed domestic abuse, this can psychologically torment and haunt these young, innocent, minds. With more support from the government we could make the punishment more severe to make people thing twice before they partake in this disgusting crime.
Only 46% of domestic abuse crimes ended in arrests in 2007 which deters others from reporting the abuse.
70% of all domestic abuse stories are female.
On average an individual will have been abused 35 times before reporting.
Domestic abuse costs the public £23 billion each year.
