Regulate Airbnb and other short term lets

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Properties are being changed from homes into party houses and cheap accommodation with no consideration for neighbours. No other property is allowed to have a change of use without agreement of the Local Planning Authority
Airbnb and short term lets should have additional regulations imposed on them for the following reasons -
The Hotel and B&B industry are subject to unfair competition.
Rent in many areas are increasing due to Airbnb, as landlords keep properties off the longer-term rental market and instead get higher rental rates for short-term housing via Airbnb.
Removing houses from the rental market is contributing to homelessness
Leaving properties empty and only short term is destroying local communities

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand you are concerned about the impact short term letting of properties has, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we are not sure what regulations you would like to see.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
