What the petition asks
Margaret Thatcher is a controversial and widely disliked figure, taxpayers money should not be wasted on using a figure hated by a significant number of UK taxpayers. This honour should go to a more beloved, influential figure, that everyone can agree on, such as Aneurin Bevan or Shakespeare.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Bank notes are the responsibility of the Bank of England, which is independent of the Government and Parliament.
