Fuel to be no more than £1 a litre. By either tax cut or VAT cut. Double tax?

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

Fuel is at a all time high. We are all suppose to be greatful we have fuel duty freeze year on year. But is this really a freeze. In my area fuel is £1.32. This is made up of cost price profit margin fuel duty & VAT. YES a double tax. They take i believe 58p in every litre in fuel duty and 20% VAT
Im proposing the goverment to lower the duty to 50p and remove VAT this brings the price down to £1 a litre

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you would like to see the price of fuel lowered, but we are not sure whether you would like VAT removed and fuel duty lowered or for the Government to set a guaranteed maximum price of £1 for fuel supported by subsidies if necessary. We are also not sure what types of fuel you would like this to apply to.

You could start a new petition setting out clearly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
