What the petition asks
Tougher sentences are needed for ALL criminal acts to act as a deterrent for ANY crime committed in the UK. Sentences must be set, so lighter sentences aren't given in certain areas due to overcrowding in prisons. Judges must not be able to use their own personal views when handing down sentences.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you would like changes to the justice system, but we are not sure exactly what changes you would like.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
