Horse Riders Rights Demand Equal Rights

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Horse Riders have been deliberately overlooked by the UK government while all other vulnerable road users are being recognised... Why?
Most motorists have no idea how to act around horses. They require educating to understand safety around horses.
Please include the safe passing speed...15mph, passing distance 2 metres. Please take notice of any hand signals the rider may be showing you. Never brake at last moment or rev engines loudly. Be aware you might need to stop. It should only be for a few seconds and could save the drivers life as well as the rider's. Riders often have to nod their thanks rather than let go of their reins.
If two horses are being ridden side by side it should be to protect a younger or more spooky horse and you.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take specific action.

We understand you are concerned about the rights of horse riders on the roads, but we are not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition making it compulsory to cover safe driving around horse riders as part of the driving test if that is something you would like to see happen.
