Petition · past parliament

EU citizens resident & taxed here to have votes in all future GE's & referenda.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

It is a bedrock of British values, simply stated. 'NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION'.
More than 3 million EU citizens living and working in the UK were denied their voice in the 2016 referendum which was about about THEIR futures. I do not think that is acceptable. If you agree, support my petition.

A simple residency qualification of 5 years should be sufficient for voting rights. Thank You.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you would like EU citizens in the UK to be able to vote in future elections and referendums. However, we are not sure whether you would like a requirement relating to both tax and residency or just a 5 year residency requirement.

You could start a new petition setting out clearly what the requirement is that you would like.
