Probate Fees in England/Wales should remain a low flat fee covering admin costs.

Closed 1,859 signatures

What the petition asks

A present a flat fee of £215 applies. From April 2019: Up to £50K: no charge.

£50K - £300K: £250. £300K - £500K: £750. £500K - £1m: £2,5K. The Min of Justice reckons 80% of estates won't pay more than £750. A rise of over £500! This is a stealth tax on death, not a fee to cover admin costs.
Probate fees should not help fund courts & tribunal systems. The proposed hike is unjustified.
