What the petition asks

The length of time it takes for disclosure and barring serbice to conduct checks on workers waiting to start employment can be considered a national disgrace. It affects employment statistics, with job offers being revoked and leaving people in severe financial hardship. It needs to be addressed!

In 2016 the department doubled its compensation to those who wrongly waited up to 6 months for their clearance, compensation that could have been spend elsewhere. Unnecessary and fiscally responsible of the government to not want to seek to address this ASAP .

We understand that you would like DBS checks to be faster for teachers and care workers, however we are not sure what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do to achieve this.
