What the petition asks
The current upcoming summer exam papers for gcse literature is a closed book test - and while this has been petitioned before, there are a few specific - yet vital - points that the government failed to discuss during their conclusion...
The government responded, stating that the exam boards supply the candidate with a relevant extract to the question; while this is the case, the candidate is capped at 15 marks out of 30 if they do not mention somewhere else in the play - relevant to the question. This, in turn, means that they will require to memorise various sections of the play (or novel) just so that they can get more than half marks on the question. Getting half marks overall is a current grade 4 which is not even a pass.
