Publicly reject Action on Sugar's call for a "milkshake ban"

Closed 34 signatures

What the petition asks

Action on Sugar, a British pressure group, has called for all milkshakes with more than 300 calories to be banned for health reasons.

This is absurd, and would be a huge government overreach. Large, thick milkshakes are a tasty occasional treat, and virtually everyone treats them as such.
Action on Sugar is basing their wild demand for a ban based on the ridiculous assumption that these kinds of milkshakes would be "consumed on a daily basis", to quote their own chairman Graham McGregor.

The government should publicly state that they are not seriously considering this proposal. The obesity crisis is serious, but this is not the solution.
